Company History

1965 – 1989

The base of CHETENG Engineering, s.r.o. dates back to 1965. In the former Czechoslovakia arose a need to unify chemical and food-processing machinery producers to serve the market better with more sophisticated technological units of higher quality. This resulted in formation of an aggregate group of companies, Trust of Enterprises CHEPOS, on 1. 7. 1965.

The CHEPOS Trust brought together the most important suppliers of chemical and food-processing machinery in the former Czechoslovakia. Activities of these companies focused on delivery of complete industrial plants for chemical, food-processing and rubber industries, auxiliary maintenance of nuclear power plants and, moreover, supply of thermally insulated trucks, water-treatment plants, wood-processing machines, cranes, steel structures and other special mechanical facilities.

The CHEPOS Trust successfully implemented many industrial projects in Czechoslovakia as well as abroad, e.g. crude oil processing plants in former Czechoslovakia, former USSR, Syria, Iraq and Egypt, biotechnological processes in the Czechoslovak market and regional markets such as Romania, Bulgaria, Poland and India. Several breweries and sugar refineries were put into operation in former Czechoslovakia, former USSR, Syria, China, Turkey, Iran, and former Yugoslavia. Furthermore, mill-bakeries, bottling factories, dairies, water-treatment plants and other facilities were built by the Trust both in former Czechoslovakia and abroad.

Under the internationally registered trademark CHEPOS were associated the following Czechoslovak enterprises and organizations: Kralovopolska Engineering Works Brno, ZVU Hradec Kralove, FEROX Decinn, Choteborské Engineering Works Chotebor, Mill-Machinery Factories Pardubice, Vychodoslovenske Engineering Works Kosice, FRIGERA Kolin, Slovacke Works Uhersky Brod, TOPOS Sluknov, ALBA Horovice, BUZULUK Komarov, CHODOS Chodov, Engineering-Supply Organization Brno, Research Institute of Chemical Installations Brno, Research Institute of Food-Processing and Thermal Insulation Technology Hradec Kralove, VIHORLAT Snina, and two export organizations: TECHNOEXPORT Praha and TECHNOPOL Bratislava. All of them successfully represented CHEPOS Trust in local and foreign markets.

1989 - 2006

Following economic and political reforms of 1989 - 1991, companies in the entire former Czech and Slovak Federative Republics entered  into a gradual restructuring process. The privatization process impacted subsequent disruption of relationships among companies in the CHEPOS Trust which later became independent. CHEPOS, Engineering and Sales Organization Brno, s.p. was founded in 1990 as a state-owned enterprise continuing the tradition of the CHEPOS Trust. Among others, Chepos Engineering, Ltd. was formed as a new company by privatization on 18. 12. 1991 to continue activities of the initial CHEPOS Trust.

On 16. 3. 1995, following the discontinued long-term legal dispute over the trademark, a new name CHETENG Engineering, s.r.o. was given to the company. This fact had no impact on the objective of company's activities or its market position. Today´s CHETENG Engineering, s.r.o. company is both a legal and actual successor of activities and tradition of CHEPOS, Engineering and Sales Organization Brno s.p. as a general supplier of complete industrial plants, provider of engineering, design and procurement activities and services in the oil refining, gas processing, chemistry, petrochemicals and environmental protection fields.
