Project description

Phthalic anhydride is an organic compound with formula C6H4(CO)2O. This anhydride of phthalic acid, a colorless solid, is an important industrial chemical, especially for large-scale production of plasticizers for plastics.

Production principle:

It is obtained by catalytic oxidation of o-xylene and naphthalene. Naphthalene and o-xylene oxide into anhydride of phthalic acid, while a huge amount of heat is being released during this process. Most of this heat is taken away by salted mixture in cooling ring. This heat is used for production and pre-heating of high-pressure steam. The base product is converted into liquid phase by cooling and then it is cleared out by heat stabilization and distillation. Polluted reaction air is taken away to catalytic incinerator.
